Terms
The rules for joining Ship or Extinct and launching before the meteor hits.
Last updated: June 03, 2026
1. Agreement
By accessing or using Ship or Extinct ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Who we are
Ship or Extinct ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website and service available at ship-or-extinct.com.
You can reach us at:
Email: hi@ship-or-extinct.com
Website: ship-or-extinct.com
3. What the Service is
Ship or Extinct is a paid accountability challenge for founders who commit to launching one startup within a fixed deadline.
The Service may include a landing page, paid access, email-based login, a commitment setup flow, a founder dino, a public username, a startup commitment, a countdown page, and a public founder profile showing whether the founder shipped or went extinct.
The Service is not a course, coaching program, investment service, legal service, financial advisory service, or business consulting service.
We do not guarantee that your startup will succeed, generate revenue, receive funding, gain users, or achieve any specific business result.
4. Your account
You must provide accurate and complete information when using the Service.
You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping access to your email, login credentials, and connected accounts secure.
You may not create multiple accounts to bypass rules, pricing, restrictions, deadlines, or access limits.
Sign-in may be handled through email verification codes, magic links, OAuth providers, or other authentication methods supported by the Service.
You must use the same email address for login that you used during checkout, unless we provide another supported way to verify access.
5. Payment
Access to Ship or Extinct may require payment.
Payments are processed through third-party providers such as Stripe. By making a purchase, you agree to the price, billing terms, and payment details shown at checkout.
Unless stated otherwise at checkout, payment grants access to the specific challenge, product, or feature described at the time of purchase.
Pricing, included features, and access rules may change over time. The price displayed at checkout is the price that applies to your purchase.
We do not store full card numbers.
6. Refunds
Payments are generally non-refundable.
You are paying for access to a deadline-driven accountability product, not for a guaranteed business outcome.
We may issue a refund at our discretion in limited cases, including:
- Duplicate charges for the same purchase
- Technical failures that prevent you from accessing the Service after payment
- Any situation where a refund is required by applicable law
To request a refund, email hi@ship-or-extinct.com with your account email and purchase details within a reasonable time after the charge.
7. Commitment rules
After joining, you commit to one active startup challenge.
The core rules are:
- One founder dino
- One active startup
- One deadline
- No pause
- No reset
- No swapping the active startup after the countdown has started
Your founder dino is chosen during setup and may not be changed afterwards.
Your countdown starts only when you actively start the countdown inside the Service.
To complete the challenge, you must ship before the deadline expires.
"Shipped" means that your startup is publicly accessible in some real form. This may include a live product, landing page, waitlist, public beta, paid beta, launch post, or another publicly accessible URL accepted by the Service.
A private document, internal prototype, hidden repository, or unfinished idea does not count as shipped.
If you miss the deadline without an accepted public launch:
- Your dino may be marked as extinct
- Your active startup may be marked as fossilized or extinct
- Your public founder profile may show the result
- Your challenge history may remain visible as part of the public accountability experience
- You may be blocked from starting another active startup challenge unless we later provide a supported way to do so
Extinction is part of the product experience. It is not a technical account deletion.
You may still be able to log in and view your account after extinction, but your ability to create or start another challenge may be limited.
8. Public accountability
Ship or Extinct is built around public accountability.
By using the Service, you understand that certain information may be displayed publicly, including:
- Your public username
- Your founder profile
- Your chosen dino
- Your active startup name
- Your startup description or URL if provided
- Your challenge deadline
- Your countdown status
- Your shipped status
- Your extinct or fossilized status
- Previously shipped startups if shown by the Service
Public pages may be accessible at URLs such as:
/f/your-username
Information you choose to publish may be indexed by search engines, shared by other users, or captured outside the Service.
You are responsible for the information you choose to make public.
9. Optional social links
The Service may allow you to add optional social links, such as X or LinkedIn.
If you add a social link, you confirm that it belongs to you or that you have permission to use it.
We may display social links on your public profile or use them to support public accountability features.
You can choose not to add social links.
10. Community conduct
You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, abuse, or impersonate other users or our team
- Post spam, scams, misleading content, or malicious links
- Upload or share illegal, hateful, abusive, or harmful content
- Use the Service for unlawful purposes
- Attempt to disrupt, scrape, overload, reverse engineer, or exploit the Service
- Bypass access controls, payment rules, challenge rules, or security protections
- Misrepresent your startup, launch status, identity, or achievements
We may remove content, restrict features, suspend access, or terminate accounts that violate these rules or harm the Service, our users, or our community.
11. Your content
You keep ownership of content you submit to the Service, including profile information, usernames, startup names, descriptions, domains, launch links, social links, and other materials.
You grant Ship or Extinct a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, distribute, and adapt your content as needed to operate, improve, and promote the Service.
This includes showing your public founder profile, startup commitment, challenge status, shipped startups, extinct status, and public activity on Ship or Extinct.
You represent that you have the rights to any content you upload, submit, or publish through the Service.
You must not upload or submit content that infringes someone else's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights.
12. Third-party services
The Service may integrate with third-party services, such as payment processors, authentication providers, email providers, analytics tools, hosting providers, storage providers, or social platforms.
Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, their content, or their actions.
13. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available."
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, and reliability.
We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available at all times.
We do not guarantee any startup, business, revenue, funding, audience, launch, or personal productivity outcome.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ship or Extinct will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, loss of goodwill, business interruption, or failed startup outcomes.
Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for access to the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
15. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, break challenge rules, create risk for the Service or users, fail to pay required fees, or use the Service in a harmful or unlawful way.
Sections that should reasonably survive termination will continue to apply, including payment terms, refund rules, content licenses, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute-related provisions.
16. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time.
If we make material changes, we will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date.
Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms become effective means you accept the changes.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator of Ship or Extinct, unless applicable consumer protection laws require otherwise.
If a specific jurisdiction is required, it may be stated here once the legal entity operating Ship or Extinct has been finalized.
